Centennial vs. Mount Hebron Preview

Words: Josh Horen

After a disappointing loss in their season opener, Centennial boys varsity basketball is looking to bounce back on Wednesday, December 13 against their biggest rival, Mount Hebron High School.

After losing a double-digit lead late in the game against the Atholton Raiders, Centennial needs to defend better later in the game and make free throws down the stretch. Centennial shot just a hair over 50% from the line on Friday night, making only 14/27 free throws. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles only made 4/10 free throws, which certainly contributed to the close loss.

Mount Hebron also lost in their county opener, losing 70-58 to Long Reach High School. In the last five years, Mount Hebron has seriously struggled against Centennial. Dating all the way back to the 2012-2013 season, Mt. Hebron has dropped 10 straight match-ups against Centennial, making this one of the most lopsided rivalries in the county. If Centennial can shoot better from the line, defend better in transition, and continue to rack up the offensive boards, the Eagles should find themselves 1-1 on the year.
