On Monday, November 14, 2011, student-athletes gathered in the media center after school to sign their National Letters of Intent as friends, family, and coaches looked on.
Activision Publishing has, yet again, broken sales records. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has become the biggest entertainment launches of all time. Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million units on the first day, grossing $400 Million. Over one million people showed up at 13,000 stores to pick up the game at midnight.
Despite early predictions that Modern Warfare 3 would be out done by it’s main competitor, Battlefield 3, it out sold Battlefield by approximately 1.5 million copies.
This is the third year in a row that a Call of Duty game has broken a sales record.
Two years ago, a hush fell over the country at the news of Michael Jackson’s death.
Within ten minutes of the third quarter, Wilde Lake intercepted a CHS pass; increasing their lead by 12. As the third quarter came to a close, the Wildecats scored another touchdown. Entering the final stanza of the game, WLHS remained in the lead 18-0.
Which leads to the ending of the game with a score of Centennial zero and Wilde Lake 24. Eagles senior linebacker and running back Karon Hickman, stated that, “we [played well during the] first half and then it all went downhill second half.”
The fall months following September are accompanied by a season of giving, and Centennial clubs and students are chipping in to make a difference for those in need. The CHS Horizon Club and Salvation Army have organized drives to collect various items to be distributed to those without certain luxuries for the fall and winter months.
In an already crowded smart phone market, each new device has to bring some new, revolutionary feature to the table to even have a chance at success. Last year’s iPhone 4 changed the game in terms of graphic quality, speed, and design. While this year’s iPhone 4S doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel, it makes it a whole lot faster.
