On Friday night, fans packed the stands to watch the Centennial Varsity football team compete against their rival Mount Hebron High School.

Centennial struggled to contain the Mount Hebron running game, and the Eagles’ costly turnovers on the offensive side caused them to lose by a score of 47-0.

Both teams had trouble jump-starting their offense, but Mount Hebron ended up scoring first with a rushing touchdown and five minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Centennial found success in junior running backs Justice Murrell and AJ Awosika, who were getting good yardage and helping the offense drive down the field. However, a fumble by Centennial recovered by Mount Hebron took away the Eagles’ momentum.

At the end of the first half, Centennial was able to keep the score close and Mount Hebron was only up 13-0.

Centennial fought hard, but the players looked to have run out of energy.

The Mount Hebron offense took control of the game and the Vikings ended up taking down Centennial on Homecoming night 47-0.

The football team will take on River Hill next Friday at 7pm.
