Tuesday, October 13 at 7:00 pm, Delta Scholars will conduct a Welcoming Ceremony in the Media Center for the club’s 18 new members.

The Delta Scholars program is an Honor Society primarily focused for African American women, which emphasizes a system of sisterhood and togetherness. Mrs. Holt, one of advisors of Delta Scholars, describes the program as, “A place to support one another, and also to do community service.”

Holt’s hope is that Delta Scholars provides a healthy environment for the members as they apply themselves inside and outside of school.

As an Honor Society, not anyone can qualify for Delta Scholars. Applicants must have had a 3.0 grade point average by the end of fourth quarter last year. They also must fill out an application and include two letters of recommendation.

The induction of the members is a big deal for the Delta Scholars community, calling for a celebration. The new members’ hard work will be recognized tonight, and they will officially be considered a part of the Delta Scholars community!
