After defeating the Long Reach Lightning, 57-43, the Centennial Eagles boys varsity team has now extended their winning streak to five games, their longest streak of the year.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 10-2 lead, and ended the first quarter leading the Lightning 15-5. Senior Sean Taylor led all scorers with seven points at the end of the first quarter. Fellow senior Jaden Williams brought great energy and hustle off the bench as well to highlight a very well rounded first quarter for the Eagles.
The pace picked up for the Lightning in the second quarter, but the Eagles easily matched their speed and went into halftime holding a 25-17 advantage.
The third and fourth quarter remained the same with the Eagles continuously stepping on the gas and not letting up.
Long Reach just seemingly could not close the gap.
Senior Andrew Hohmann led the scoring attack with 18 points, followed by Taylor with 13 points.
With only three games remaining in the regular season, the Eagles know how important it is to finish out the season strong and not ease up.
“It is very important to finish these last three games of the regular season strong and with wins. Now is the perfect time to get our chemistry 100% right before playoffs. We are rolling right now and I see that continuing for this team,” said Taylor.
Centennial looks to keep their streak alive tomorrow, February 10, when they take on Carver Vocational Technical High School at home at 2:00.
