After an 14-0 demolition of the Mount Hebron Vikings on Wednesday, April 4, the Eagles offense couldn’t get into a rhythm Thursday, falling to River Hill by a score of 10-1.
The Hawks tacked on two runs in the top of the first inning and then added two more in the top of the fifth to score four unanswered runs. Thanks to very heads-up base-running by sophomore Olivia Reese, the Eagles scored their first and only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. River Hill answered the very next inning, adding one more run, stretching their lead back to four runs. Centennial’s offense remained quiet throughout the whole game, as they seemingly could not get any type of rally going. The Hawks completed the game by adding five more runs in the top of the seventh to solidify their win, 10-1.
The Eagles now move to a game under .500, with a 2-3 overall record, while the Hawks remain undefeated at 5-0.
Centennial softball will return to action on Saturday, April 7, in a tournament featuring in-county and out-of-county opponents.
