Centennial’s PAWS club recently began organizing trips to a local privately owned shelter, Animal Welfare Society. Members of the PAWS club are continually making trips to the shelter to help take care of the dogs there.

Originally, the members donated to the county-owned Howard County Humane Society, giving toys. However, due to age restrictions the members were unable to volunteer at the Howard County Shelter. Instead, they started volunteering at Animal Welfare Society.

“Howard County Humane Society took donated toys, but we weren’t able to participate because of age limits,” said junior Katie Hogan, president of the PAWS club.

In addition to volunteering at the shelter, the PAWS club is organizing a dog walk in the spring that will showcase dogs that still need homes to the public, in order to help them get adopted.
