March 3 marks the opening day for Rita’s Italian Ice shop in Ellicott City. With such a mild winter and pleasantly surprising warm weather, the parking lot outside of the shop is expected to be full of loyal customers.

Sophomores Maria Ayoub and Joseph DeLatte are ecstatic to hear about the opening of Rita’s.

“That made my day like, ten times better,” responds Ayoub to the news. Both DeLatte and Ayoub expect to be there at opening day and are anxiously waiting for Saturday.

Sophomore Brigitte Burrell is also thrilled to get her favorite item from the Rita’s menu. “It’s worth the wait, but the line is definitely going to be long,” assumes Burrell.

As if welcoming spring weather, Rita’s has sweet treats that satisfy customers, even when snow may still be on the ground. Centennial students this year are lucky that their favorite Rita’s items won’t be as cold as the weather.
