On Wednesday, May 20, Centennial High School held their annual choir Pop Concert. Students from every Centennial choir group performed various popular songs from different genres such as: Stay by Rihanna, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, and Lay Me Down by Sam Smith.

Solos, duets, A Capella, small groups, and large groups made the show a night to remember. The Acafellas and C#, Centennials two A Cappella groups, sang to 21 Guns, Lion Sleeps Tonight, and Geronimo; Concert Choir started the night with Bohemian Rhapsody. Madrigals ended the first act with Stand by Me by Ben E. King and Women’s Choir started the second act with My Boyfriends Back by Angels. An all freshman group, Aparajita Kazi, Moitri Kazi, Max Shen, Basilica Arockiaraj, and Minu Mandal, performed Demons by Imagine Dragons.

Soloist Stephanie Boisvert took the show in a different direction when she sang to Life of the Party, while Cece Denby danced contemporary on the stage. Montria Walker, a powerhouse singer, took on the classic I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston and earned much praise. Other soloists, Eddy Choe, Mackenzie Brandon, Cecilia Hsu, Jayla Waters, Juhl Dwivedi, Sky Betz, Jun Lee, and Jesse Kinstler sang It’s A Beautiful Day, 1901, Simple as This, Stay, Skinny Love, Warrior, Lay me Down, and Hallelujah, respectively.

The only duet of the night was No Air by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown sang by John Hunter and Montria Walker. All Centennial Choirs sang the Skyrim Theme, ending the night, along with a big ‘thank you’ to their beloved teacher, Jessica Cummings.
