Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman declared May 1 as “Zaching Day” in Howard County, to honor the Zaching Against Cancer Foundation and its inspiration, Zach Lederer.
Students throughout Howard County wore Zaching t-shirts or red shirts to show their support for the foundation. The symbolic strongman pose has reached people both in the Howard County community and beyond. Zach’s mother, Christine, has asked that people make $24 donations in honor of his 24th birthday.
Lederer was an inspiration for everyone and his legacy runs through Centennial and the Howard County community.

The Centennial Eagles Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse team faced their rivals, the Hebron Vikings, on Friday, April 24. The Eagles came up short and lost the game 9-3.
Freshman Jeremy Wilson scored the first two goals, while senior Justin Rottman scored the final goal for Centennial. Junior goalie Jason Simpson, had four great saves within a minute and Corey Grable, a senior, showed his stick skills by beating the Hebron midfield multiple times throughout the game.
At half time, six Centennial alumni were honored for their athletic achievements. One of the six honored was Centennial’s hero Zach Lederer. After all six were announced and celebrated, the alumni and the fans honored Zach by “Zaching”.
The Boys’ next game is Tuesday, April 28, at home against Hammond.

On Saturday, March 21, the Zaching Against Cancer 3v3 Tournament was held at Centennial. Teams of three and four could participate for a donation of $45 per team . The teams could be made up of one CHS varsity basketball player, one JV player, and another student who does not participate in the program.
Tonight, during halftime of Centennial’s varsity boys’ basketball game against Hammond High School, CHS students and fans are “Zaching” in support of Zachary Lederer’s battle with cancer. Zach, CHS is thinking of you, and we are with you, in our hearts, always.
