The Centennial wrestling team lost to River Hill High School in a close match on Thursday, December 14. The Eagles, who came into this match 2-1 have now dropped two straight matches, to Howard High school on Tuesday and tonight to River Hill.
Centennial and River Hill had a close run, but unfortunately Centennial lost with a final score of 33-47. Although Centennial needed one more pin to tie up the final score, River Hill secured the win in the final match .
Even though Centennial did not come out on top, first year wrestler, Nicholas Yee, had a remarkable match. His match was determined when he held off his opponent in the final seconds to capture the win.
Team captains, junior Jason Kraisser and senior Jacob Blyukher also had key matches that kept River Hill from advancing too far ahead in overall team points. They both won with pins; Blyukher in the second period and Kraisser in the first period.
Next Tuesday Centennial faces long time rival Mount Hebron High School and Oakland Mills High School in a tri-meet at home.
