On October 17, Centennial’s Boys’ Varsity soccer team hosted Oakland Mills High School for our senior night game.

Several seniors, such as Alex Cook and Joe Brown, were honored before the game, walking onto the field with their loved ones.  Additionally, each senior was given playing time, whether they were a regular on the field or not.

After 80 minutes of play, the Eagles were defeated with a final score of 1-0.  The single goal Centennial conceded was off of an Oakland Mills throw-in.  Throw-ins are indirect, but the ball was touched before it went in, so the goal counted.

Offensively, the Eagles played very well, and had several scoring opportunities.  The boys had a good chance to even out the score when they were given a penalty kick after a foul in Oakland Mills’ box.  The kick was taken by senior, Matt Merkey, but was saved.

The team fought hard throughout the game, and they are in good position to move on to playoffs.  The Eagles will play their next game on Thursday, October 18, at Atholton High School.
