On Friday, September 27, the seats were packed to watch the Centennial Varsity Football team take on Aberdeen High School for their homecoming game. The Centennial defense held strong throughout the game, but a touchdown for Aberdeen late in the fourth quarter sealed the 12-6 win.
The Aberdeen offense was productive on their first drive of the game, scoring first with a rushing touchdown. However, the Centennial defense settled into the game and made crucial stops on fourth downs.
Centennial went into the second quarter trailing 6-0, but multiple long running plays by sophomore running back Praise Bright changed the momentum of the game. The Eagles were able to capitalize on Bright’s running success and score a one yard rushing touchdown to tie the game 6-6.
Neither team was able to produce anything offensively in the third quarter. It wasn’t until 4:52 was left in the fourth quarter when Aberdeen broke the tie with a touchdown that would eventually win them the game.
Next Friday, the Centennial Varsity Football team will take on Southern High School on the road.
