In the wake of Apple’s latest iOS 6 update, which brought many new features including an overhauled Maps application, many Apple users reported that the new Maps application simply was not good. In response to the outburst by the Apple community, Apple CEO Tim Cook issued a statement on apple.com late last week. The post includes reassuring messages such as “With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment [of quality]. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better,” and “The more customers use Maps the better it will get and we greatly appreciate all the feedback we have received.”
In the meantime, Cook’s letter suggests to use other services such as MapQuest or Google Maps and closes with “Everything we do at Apple is aimed at making our products the best in the world. We know that you expect that from us, and we will keep working non-stop until Maps lives up to the same incredibly high standard.”
