Centennial Lacrosse Competes in Playoffs

On Wednesday, June 9, the Centennial boys’ lacrosse team lost to the Westminster Owls 16-7 in the first round of this year’s playoffs. Senior Brendon Hlibok led the team in scoring with three goals in his final lacrosse game for the Eagles.

After a great season from the Eagles, it was sad to see them exit this early into the playoffs. “The season itself was better than I had expected. Honestly, we were doing so well until the last game,” said junior mid-fielder James Maclellan.

The Eagles will be losing 12 seniors from the team this year. The boys’ goal this year was to prove that they could be a competitive team, and they didn’t disappoint.

The Centennial girls’ lacrosse team lost to Marriotts Ridge 8-4 in the first round of the playoffs, also on Wednesday, June 9. They went into this game as the fourth seed with Marriotts Ridge as the first seed. The leading scorer for the Eagles was senior Louisa Lagera with a total of three goals. The Eagles finished the season with an overall record of 3-5.

”I would describe this season of lacrosse as unpredictable and a lot of fun,” stated sophomore goalie Ava Welsh.
