Centennial Cross Country Competes in the Regional Championships
On Thursday, November 4, Centennial’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams competed in the 3A East Region Championships, placing second in the boys’ race and eighth in the girls’.
Centennial junior Antonio Camacho finished with a time of 15:03, second to Manchester Valley senior Aidan Neal who set a new Centennial High course record of 15:02. Despite this intense finish, River Hill High School were the true victors with runners placing 5th, 17th, 18th, 22nd, and 24th.
Centennial seniors Luke LasCasas and Alex White placed 7th and 9th, running times of 15:57 and 16:06 respectively. Sophomore Owen Graff and junior Isaiah Shiau rounded out the top five, placing 37th and 38th.
In the girls’ race, Howard swept the competition with runners in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place. Senior Nimrit Ahuja won with a time of 18:13. For Centennial, sophomore Varsha Makkapati led the way, finishing 24th with a time of 20:49. Junior Susan Kuhn was close behind in 28th.
The boys’ team will prepare for the State Championships at Hereford High School on Saturday, November 13.
