Thanksgiving is a time to get together with family and friends, share a meal, and appreciate all of the wonderful things in our lives. Through this holiday, we are given the opportunity to celebrate every moment, person, and experience from the year.
A crucial part of thanksgiving is also the food. I make this recipe every year for my family during Thanksgiving and wanted to share it for others to enjoy. This recipe is simple and easy to make, and is perfect for bringing to your Thanksgiving dinner.
The typical Thanksgiving dessert people think of is, of course, pumpkin pie, but you can mix things up and try this pumpkin bread instead. With its soft texture and flavorful spices, pumpkin bread is a great addition to any meal and will leave you wanting more.
Pumpkin Bread
Ingredients:
4 eggs
1 cup of oil
⅔ cup of water
1 15 ounce can of pumpkin
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
3 cups of sugar
3 ½ cups of flour
2 teaspoon of baking soda
½ teaspoon of baking powder
1 ¼ teaspoons of salt
1 ½ teaspoons of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of ginger
1 teaspoon of nutmeg
Materials:
2 large bowls
2 glass/metal bread loaf pans
A whisk or spatula
~Tablespoon of butter for the pans
To begin,
1) Preheat oven to 350° F
2) Measure and mix all of the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Set aside.
3) In a separate bowl, measure and mix all of your wet ingredients. Whisk these together well, so they make a smooth liquid.
4) Carefully pour the dry ingredients little by little into the wet and mix thoroughly. Do not pour it all at once, as this can leave air pockets of flour you may not mix properly. Once it is all incorporated, set aside.
5) Next, get your two metal or glass pans and lightly coat the insides with butter. After, lightly sprinkle flour on top of the butter and spread it over the pans. Make sure to add enough for a thin layer, but not too much where you can see piles of flour.
6) Pour the batter into the pans, making sure they get an even amount each.
7) Carefully place the pans into the oven and bake for 55-65 minutes at 350° F. When you take them out, carefully poke the middle of each with a toothpick to check that it is fully cooked. If it is still liquidy inside, put it back in the oven for another 5-10 minutes. When your toothpick comes out clean, they are done! Take the pans out of the oven and let them cool completely before unmolding.
8) Serve and enjoy!
