Final Varsity Sports Results for the Week

Football: On Friday, September 12, the Centennial football team lost to Oakland Mills 55-0.  This puts them at an in-county record of 0-2.  On September 19, the football team will play in the homecoming game against Mount Hebron.

Field Hockey: The field hockey team played Atholton on Friday, September 12, and lost 4-1.  Stephanie Sachs scored the only goal off of an assist from Maggie Sullivan.  The team is now 0-3 after losses against Bel Air and Howard earlier in the week.  The team’s next game is home against Hammond on September 16.

Girls’ Soccer:  The girls’ soccer team won its first in-county game of the season on September 12 against Atholton.  With a final score of 3-2, the game was very close, but in the end it counted as a victory for the Eagles.  The record is now 1-1 for in-county games, and the Eagles tied Chesapeake High School the previous week 5-5.   The Eagles will play next at Hammond on September 16.

Boys’ Soccer:  On Thursday, September 11, the boys’ soccer team gained a resounding 4-1 victory against Atholton. Esteban Garcia, Michael Merkey, Justin Breedlove, and Tommy Wang each scored a goal for the Eagles.  At the end of the first week of in-county games, the team’s record is 1-1.  A home game against Hammond will be played September 16.

Volleyball: After losing to Wilde Lake in a huge upset the year before, the Eagles were able to overcome the previous loss by beating Wilde Lake in three straight sets on Thursday, September 11. Click here for the full article.  The Eagles now have an in-county record of 2-0.  The next game is Tuesday at Oakland Mills.

Cross Country: The girls’ cross country team is continuing their legacy of excellence. On September 13, the Lady Eagles ran at home in the Howard County Invitational and placed second with 84 points against River Hill’s 68 points.  Previously, they ran in the Interstate Classic at Clearspring High School and placed first, with River Hill coming in second behind them.  The boys’ team placed fifth at the Interstate Classic and seventh at the Howard County Invitational.

Golf: The boys’ varsity golf team is off to a strong start with a record of 4-1.  The girls’ team is off to an equally strong start, and they also have a record of 4-1.
