On Thursday, September 11th, the Centennial volleyball team took on Wilde Lake at Centennial High school.
The Eagles had some trouble with the Wildcats, but they took the first set 25-23. Senior Meghan Kelley led the first set effort, leading with five kills, and junior Emily Allen had three kills. The Eagles tied the first set at 16-16, then took the lead at19-16. An overpass by Wilde Lake led to senior Chloe Attram putting the winning block down to put the first set away for the Eagles.
Kelley continued her impressive game going in the second set, putting up three more kills. Sophomores Rachel Matthew and Camryn Allen recorded three kills and ace respectively. Senior Monika Buczak got into the action with two blocks and a kill, and the Eagles took the second frame 25-19.
The third set was tough for the Eagles. Wilde Lake was executing very well, and the Eagles had to come from behind to take the third set. Kelley led the charge with an ace, and two kills in the last set. C. Allen scored her second ace of the match and Matthew added two more kills. Sophomore Sabrina Han and junior Liz Kwon did very good jobs of setting up their teammates for kills all match.
Late in the set the teams battled back and forth, but the Eagles took the lead for good at 21-20, and senior Taylor Good put the game away with a block to end the set, and the game.
