The Centennial Girls Softball team won their senior night game against Hammond High School on Tuesday, May 5. The Eagles played strong and finished the game with a score of 13-7.
Josefine Jensen started the game pitching and Centennial was quick to get three Hammond players out and then score four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jordon Burk and Jensen scored and Sam Sterenberg had a strong hit that sent Caroline Strott and Brita Hawtof to home.
In the second inning, Emily Allen, Jensen, Gracie Rockefeller, Hawtof, and Abbey Strott all scored, causing Hammond to call a timeout and change their pitcher. Despite Hammond’s attempt to come back, the Eagles held strong.
In the top of the third inning Sammy Kastner got two Hammond players out at home plate in a row. Later, Sterenburg, Jensen, Allen, and A. Strott all scored, as well as one player from Hammond, ending the fifth inning at 13-5.
Hammond scored two more runs, but they were unable to stop the Eagles, ending the game after the top of the seventh inning at 13-7.
