On April 26, 2012, the Howard County Board of Education unanimously named Renee Foose as the new school superintendent. Foose signed a four year deal that will pay her $250,000 annually. Foose is replacing current superintendent Sydney Cousin, who is expected to retire July 1, 2012 because of illness.
Foose will bring her experience in the Baltimore County and Montgomery County School Systems when she becomes the new superintendent. Previous positions held have been the current Baltimore county deputy superintendent that she has held for the last one year, and Montgomery county director of school performance, director of shared accountability and associate superintendent.
