She’s the First, a charity devoted to the principles of equal opportunity, philanthropy, and leadership, works to provide scholarships for girls in third-world countries. Suqi Wu, a junior at Centennial High School, formed a She’s the First branch at the school this past summer.
The organization plans to hold a basket-weaving session at Centennial High School’s annual WorldFest, along with an obstacle course simulating the struggles girls have to go through in countries such as India, Peru, and Tanzania.
Centennial High School’s She’s the First branch aims to also host a bake sale at the Howard County Library, and a “Sweat for She’s the First” Zumba class in the spring.
She’s the First’s website states the charity has “the goal of creating first-generation graduates and our next generation of global leaders.”
