On October 17, 2012, sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT in
school. On September 4, PSAT study guides were distributed to English
teachers in preparation for the test.
The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT’s, which most students take in
their junior or senior year. The SAT scores of students are required
by many colleges, sometimes being a major deciding factor on whether
or not a student is accepted.
The PSAT’s give students a chance to see what the SAT’s are like, and
shows them what areas they need to improve on.
“It gives you an idea of what you need to know,” said a junior at CHS.
Freshmen and seniors are not taking the PSAT. Instead, the freshmen
will be visiting the Smithsonian, and the seniors have the opportunity
to take the day to visit colleges.
