On Wednesday, May 29, Centennial’s senior class of 2019 walked the graduation stage. Proudly receiving their well-deserved diplomas, the new graduates celebrated their last hoorah as Eagles.

The morning began in somewhat chaos as the grads struggled to form their lines and the overwhelming heat and humidity held a grip on the audience. Despite these struggles, the energy of the ceremony was ecstatic.

Principal Cynthia Dillon opened with several remarks about being new to the school, followed by student speakers Kieran Newell, Ashley Deng, and speeches from the county executive Calvin Ball, superintendent Michael Martirano, and Teacher of the Year Sara Duran. Students, teachers, and executives alike all had one aspect in common: the bittersweet feeling of final goodbyes and new beginnings.

As the seniors’ names were read one by one, and finally their tassels turned, the audience turned in their seats, for this class of over 300 now enters a world of new possibilities.
