Field Hockey 2021 Season Recap

After many postponements, modified practices, and COVID-19 restrictions, Centennial’s girls’ field hockey team dominated, going undefeated for the season. The team faced county rivals Atholton, Oakland Mills, Hammond, Wilde Lake, and Long Reach, with their biggest wins coming against Atholton and Oakland Mills at a score of 11-0.

Although the county did not approve of a playoff tournament this season, Centennial field hockey was awarded the title of county champions due to their record.

Junior Sarah Arcuri spoke on the team’s success, stating, “we definitely credited a lot of our success to our new coach, Natalie Fyock, who stepped in last minute and improved our program from the inside out.”

Though this season wasn’t the easiest for the team, the girls remained dedicated and determined to the end.
