Centennial Cross Country Races in New York

On Saturday, October 9, the Centennial Cross Country team competed in their very first 4K (2.49 miles). For Centennial, this had never been done before and was a challenge that they were all willing to take.

“Since this was a new distance for us to run, there weren’t any previous records broken, but we have all set our records for the 4K,” said senior Luke LasCasas. Each runner got a starting time to improve from and a new experience from this meet which will help them further along in their cross country career.

As for the winner, Christian Brothers Academy won with 55 points and the individual winner was a student from Archbishop Wood who had a time of 12:34. 11th place was only a minute behind, however, with a time of 13:27, proving how hard these runners are working.

“I feel I did pretty well, I got 11th place in the varsity A race and ran 13:27. It was a tough course and I did feel like I ran pretty well on it,” said LasCasas.
