A Little More Spunk for Next Year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

The Super Bowl is the most important football game of the year, crowning the champion of the National Football League. It is an event that even people who don’t like to watch football typically indulge themselves in. The epic halftime show performances, where well-known celebrities put on crazy performances, are one of the main reasons the game is so popular. What was just a football field turns into a stage with dancers, singers, and huge props in a matter of minutes. Not every halftime performance is as good as the others, however.

This year’s performers were Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. Starting the show with the song, The Next Episode by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, the audience was captivated from the beginning with the catchy beat.

Senior David Kayihura said, “I think it was a solid performance, all around a lot of classics and throwbacks which I thought were very fun to watch and hear.” Even though there were five performers, Kayihura stated, “I think Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Kendrick carried.”

“I liked the performers, but I felt like the show was too short and could have been more dynamic,” senior Katherine Roybal exclaimed.

To make next year’s Super Bowl halftime performance live up to expectations, a few seniors were asked who they would like to see perform. Senior Sammy Molz said, “I would like to see Khalid perform for next year’s show because I really love the music he makes. I believe the audience would also enjoy it because he has many popular songs that all age groups like.”

Roybal stated, “I would like to see Rihanna in the next super bowl halftime show because she has a lot of great songs and it would be a good comeback for her. She’s a great performer and it would be a really entertaining show!”

These seniors are desiring R&B and pop for next year, but how about another rap show? Kayihura stated, “I would like to see Kanye, Drake, and Bryson Tiller in the next performance as well as G Herbo. I feel like they would bring a good connective atmosphere and bring entertainment for the audience and it would be fun to watch and listen to.”
