Jeremy Whitaker, one of Centennial’s well-loved history teachers, was named Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year.
Whitaker has been nominated multiple times for this outstanding award and is in awe of the accomplishment. “There’re so many great teachers and it’s lucky to even be nominated,” he said.
Whitaker’s inspiration for his career came from his mom, who was also a teacher, and he leads by example from teachers who have impacted his life; he hopes to inspire kids as much as they have inspired him: “I want to engage students and make them want to be better.”
History in particular has always been one of his passions. “I love the story, and history is the story,” Whitaker said.
Per this award, Whitaker will be giving the keynote speech at graduation on May 29th.
