On Tuesday, October 20, the Centennial Girls’ Soccer team took on Glenelg in the 2015 Senior Night game. The seniors honored were Reese Western, Mackenzie Brandon, Rachel Braun, Megan Oliver, Izzie Chausse, Jesse Dunagan, and Lynsey Reckard.
Centennial dominated the time of possession in the first half, getting multiple scoring chances in the first 15 minutes. Junior Jasmine McCree converted an opportunity 13 minutes into the game to put the Eagles ahead.
Continuing the offensive momentum, senior Reese Western scored on a very skillful shot less than 10 minutes after the first goal. Four minutes later, Western scored off a penalty kick to put the lead at 3-0 at halftime.
A big reason for the first half dominance was the intensity of the defense and midfield. Seniors Megan Oliver and Jesse Dunagan, along with junior Cristina Narron played airtight defense, stopping any Genelg attack quickly and efficiently.
Senior Allie Durkee and sophomore Kirsten Wikner created multiple scoring chances in the middle of the field and set up their teammates nicely.
Seven minutes into the second half, Western completed the hat trick, extending the lead to 4-1. Glenelg would put one shot in the back of the net, but that was all they would get, as Centennial won 4-1.
Centennial’s next game is at Reservoir on October 22.
