On Friday September 29, the She’s the First Club received a $500 scholarship from Mary Gaskin of Natty Blocks Boutique. The celebration of the scholarship was actually held on June 17 at The 3rd Annual Glitz ‘N Glam Women Entrepreneur Awards Gala at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center & Conference Center, Columbia, MD.
This yearly event is hosted by Iron2Iron4Women, which is a nonprofit organization helping minority women, entrepreneurs and young people.
Trish Lawson, the founder of Iron2Iron4Women, met students in the She’s the First Club two years ago at a bake sale and ever since has been extremely supportive of the club and recommended them for this scholarship. The scholarship is helping the club with their long-term goal of awarding a female senior of Centennial High School a She’s the First Scholarship, one of which will be awarded this year!
