The Sun Rises On Senior Year
On Tuesday, September 8th, the first day of the 2020-2021 school year, the Senior class gathered at Centennial Park at 6:45am for a Senior Sunrise event.
Seniors brought blankets and breakfast foods and sat out in the park to catch up with friends and to watch the sunrise. There was cornhole, badminton and other small activities to participate in.
This event was recommended by a parent on a senior parents Facebook page and organized by a group of Centennial seniors, led by Kiran Vepa.
“It was a last minute decision to plan the event, but we got a lot of people to help spread it around on Instagram,” said Vepa. “I think we had a great turnout!”
Solely through their Instagram page, the student group advertised for the event. They posted three days before, on September 5th, announcing the date, time, and location of the event, as well as guidelines to ensure students wore masks and maintained social distancing. This announcement was reposted on numerous accounts to raise awareness, and led to a safe and successful morning.
The Senior Class Board says there will be many more events to come, and they will be posting them on social media as they are planned. To stay updated on the latest Senior updates, follow centennialseniors21 on Instagram.
