Drumroll please… 2023-2024 Theatre productions announced
On the morning of Friday, April 28, students crowded into Room 802 for the annual show announcement. At about 7:15 am, following a few “Dance Moms Pyramid” style eliminations, the fall play and spring musical for the 2023-2024 school year were announced.
After much deliberation, Mr. Jacob Traver, Theatre director and English teacher at Centennial, settled on Lost Girl—which explores the life of Wendy after returning from Neverland in the well-known childhood classic Peter Pan—for the play. Legally Blonde, a musical adaptation of the fan-favorite 2001 film, was chosen for the musical.
“I like to tie them together with some sort of theme,” Traver added. “It’s a much bigger puzzle than just those two choices.”
As for student reactions, most seem pleased with the announcement, as the reveal was met with enthusiastic applause.“I’m definitely excited for the Legally Blonde musical specifically, because that’s always been a personal favorite of mine,” commented rising senior Gabby Simmonds, who played Mrs. Phelps in this year’s production of Matilda. “As for Lost Girl… I’m overall just really excited to see how its going to go.”
