On February 1, 2023, Howard County Board of Education member Christina Delmont-Small resigned from her position as District 1 Representative, effective immediately. 

Delmont-Small explained in the news release that after much deliberation, she realized it is “impossible to properly balance the many requirements” of her position with the responsibilities of her new job, the details of which were not made public.

Delmont-Small has been a member of the board since her first term in 2016, though she has also previously worked on Executive Boards of Howard County PTAs and filled multiple leadership roles for the PTA Council of Howard County. Howard County Executive Dr. Calvin Ball now searches for new applicants to fill the rest of Delmont-Small’s current term, which ends in 2024.
